The Samsung Galaxy S II Plus devices in Germany are reportedly receiving the Android 4.2.2 software update. This is a little strange considering that the global versions of Samsung Galaxy S III and the Samsung Galaxy Note II are still left on the Android 4.1.2 software version.
You can get the update doesn't seem to be available OTA, instead you will be required to connect your Galaxy S II Plus to Samsung Kies on your computer.
The Galaxy S II Plus update will include lock-screen widgets, the Daydream screensaver and other performance improvements and enhancements. Samsung will also include some Samsung Galaxy S4 features on the device to keep in feeling modern.
Its not clear why Samsung chose the less popular Galaxy S II Plus as the first recipient of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean but it is likely the want to test the update on a smaller group of devices before they roll it out to more popular handsets.
It has also been rumored that Samsung plans to skip the Android 4.2 update for the flagship devices in favor of the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which was announced last week. Meanwhile the Samsung Galaxy S II and its variants which run somewhat outdated hardware will have Android 4.2 as their final update.
The update is expected to hit the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus in other countries soon.
