Google schedules event for July 24

Google is sending out invitations for an event scheduled on July 24 at 12PM EST (9AM PST) in San Francisco. The event will be hosted by senior vice president for Android and Chrome at Google, Sundar Pichai. Unfortunately Google hasn't revealed what topics they wish to cover during the event, but there are some speculations on what we can expect.

The current rumors suggest that Google may be readying their successor to the Google Nexus 7, which is expected to be released by the end of July. Reports suggest that the next Nexus 7 will be priced slightly higher at $229 for its 16GB variant compared to the current generation which costs $199. The next Nexus 7 may feature a 1080 by 1920 pixel resolution display, a 5 megapixel camera and have Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on-board. The Tegra 3 processor is expected to be replaced with a Snapdragon 600 processor from Qualcomm.

Google is also expected to be working on Android 5.0, which is more likely arrive with the Nexus 5 and next-generation Nexus 10 in the fall. The Motorola Moto X is also expected sometime soon, but would likely be announced by Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside at a separate event.

So with our hopes set on the next Nexus 7 announcement, we will have updates for you on the day of the event. Also feel free to check out the live stream of the event on Google's YouTube channel.
