Microsoft has made Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview available to download through the TechNet Evaluation Center to those who would like to evaluate and test the latest version of Windows Server. Additionally Microsoft has also released SQL Server 2014 Community Technology Preview (CTP).
Its common for preview builds to be released for testing and evaluation before Microsoft releases a major version to the market. These releases give app developers and administrators the opportunity to make sure their products or infrastructure are compliant with future versions of Microsoft software. The preview releases also give Microsoft the opportunity to discover and eradicate all bugs before the platforms are ready for public consumption.
In fact, Microsoft officials revealed that during TechEd North America earlier this month previews of Windows Server, SQL Server, Visual Studio, and System Center would be available around June 26th along with the public preview. Now that the first two on the list are out, it wont be long before the other services are also released for evaluation.
With the BUILD conference set to kick off tomorrow and the likely public preview of Windows 8.1 expected to make its way to users, it is always important that Microsoft offers its users.
