European carriers warn iPhone 4S users against upgrading to iOS 6.1

After months of testing iOS 6.1 was finally released to consumers a couple of weeks ago. However several issues seem to have cropped up on devices which have somehow been missed during the testing phase. These issues include connectivity issues, sending emails, texting and entering a network.

These issues seems to primarily affect Apple iPhone 4S users in Europe who make use of Microsoft Exchange, which is mainly utilized in large organizations for storing email, calendar events and contacts. Many system administrators have also confirmed that the spike in system logging has been verified since the release of iOS 6.1 last month, which suggests that users who have attempted to connect to the network after upgrading to iOS 6.1 have not had much success.

Because of this, several European carriers have been warning their customers not to upgrade to iOS 6.1. Vodafone UK published a forum post over the weekend, and officially released a statement on Monday confirming the connectivity issues with the update. 3 Austria which is another prominent carrier in Europe made a similar warning to their users through Facebook, urging them to hold off from upgrading to iOS 6.1.

While Apple has still to comment on the issue, it is believe to be related to the way iOS 6.1 handles calendar invites.

There is still a chance you may not be facing these issues while using Microsoft Exchange. Other connectivity issues like sending texts and even accessing your 3G network seem to have appeared on the device. These can be very annoying to users, but they don’t seem to be widespread and only affect a few users.

It hopefully wont be long before Apple responds to this issue so be sure to stay tuned for updates. Do any of you face the issues with your iPhone 4S? If you do leave us a comment below.
