Sony Xperia ZL officially announced
The Sony Xperia ZL is a sibling of the Sony Xperia Z which looses the water resistance in favor of a thinner chassis. It also features a soft-touch curved back which is easy to handle in the hand. Additionally the Xperia ZL has a dedicated shutter key and its microSIM and microSD slots are located under a large flap at the back bottom.
In terms of specifications the Xperia ZL features a 5 inch touch display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, a 13 megapixel camera with HDR video recording capabilities, a secondary HD camera for video calls and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro with 2GB of RAM.
The Xperia ZL has a 2370 mAh battery which is slightly larger than the one on the Xperia Z. The device also features the IR blaster and the accompanying app which allows you to use your phone as a remote control for a wide array of TVs, home stereos and other electronics around the house.
The Xperia ZL is expected to arrive as early as this quarter in select markets and is expected to be available in HSPA+ and LTE flavors. However Sony has still to announce which carriers and locations will get access to this device.
