As you may know the unlocked Google Galaxy Nexus has has the newest version of Android for some time now. Now it looks like the Google Galaxy Nexus for Sprint is ready to receive the Android 4.2.1 update.
There still hasn't been an official announcement, but leaked information suggests that the update for the Sprint variant has appeared on Google’s servers and it is available for download and installation. Unfortunately there is no word on when Sprint will make the update available (OTA) over-the-air.
The Android 4.2.1 update will bring new features like the lockscreen widgets, gesture keyboard, photosphere and other improvements you will expect on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. You can choose to install the update manually if you want or wait for the official update to be pushed by Sprint.
Unfortunately there is no news on when the update will be released for the Google Galaxy Nexus for Verizon. It looks like Verizon owners will continue to be the last to receive software updates.
