Microsoft Surface successor coming next year in three form factors

The Microsoft Surface RT sales haven't been extravagant, which could be blamed on the device being somewhat pricey along with its lackluster collection of apps. Now Microsoft is ready to launch the Microsoft Surface Pro in hopes that the full Windows 8 tablet will help boost sales of their first attempt at a mainstream tablet.

Meanwhile, rumors have already started circulating about the successor to the Microsoft Surface, and it seems like it may come in three form factors.

First we have the successor to the Surface RT which is rumored to be cut down in size. The device is said to feature a smaller 8.6 inch display, compared to the larger 10.6 inch display on the current Surface RT. Microsoft is also expected to replace the NVidia Tegra 3 processor with a new processor from Qualcomm in an aim to push it toward the consumer market. What Microsoft needs to seriously revise is their pricing. They cannot expect to compete against the well established iPad, unless they offer their product at a price potential buyers wouldn't mind spending.

Next is the successor to the Surface Pro, which may be called the Microsoft Surface Pro 2. This device is expect to feature a larger 11.6 inch display and the upcoming AMD “Temash” APU is expected to power the device instead of one from Intel.

There is also news of a third Surface device dubbed “Surface Book” and it’s expected to feature a large 14.6 inch display, we feel this device would be more of a laptop than a tablet and probably an attempt to compete with the professional MacBook Pro series.

What do you think about these rumors? Do you think any of them will become a reality? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
