Rumored Sony Nexus reported to be a fake
A couple of days ago we reported a rumored Sony Nexus was on its way and may join the lineup of Nexus devices to be announced at the October 29th Google Event. It turns out the images which showed the Sony Nexus were actually fakes, and put together by a designer who was practicing designing a Nexus concept.
We generally don’t report on rumors unless they affect any ongoing stories and we want to continue to urge our readers that rumors should not be taken seriously until the information is made official. At the same time we want to apologies for the misleading information as it was apparently validated with the source.
The fake device was designed combining the Sony Xperia TL and the Sony Xperia Ion. The camera and the microUSB design was borrowed from the Xperia TL, while the power / volume and camera buttons, the corners, rear speakers were borrowed from the Xperia Ion. The designer added the Google Logo and the connector pins to the design to give it the final Nexus look.
The designer has even included some scuff marks and scratches to make the device look more like a beat up prototype. It was the designer who finally came forward and admitted that the device was indeed a fake and not a real prototype
