The Android platform has been one to continue supporting Adobe Flash despite the choices of its competitors. So it came as a surprise to many when Adobe announced that they would be discontinuing development for the Adobe Flash for mobile browsers last November.
It looks like that time has finally arrived – Following the announcement of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Adobe has announced that they will be discontinuing flash support on Android after August 15, 2012.
After August 15, users will no longer to able to download and install the Adobe Flash Player for Android from Google Play. Only users who already have the app will continue to receive performance and security updates.
Any device which is upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will no longer support the Adobe Flash Player and Adobe recommends uninstalling the app on Jelly Bean devices. This would also mean that the recently announced Google Nexus 7 will have no Adobe Flash support out of the box.
Would you be happy with the lack of Adobe Flash on your mobile devices ?
