[Guide] How to manually update Motorola Xoom for Verizon with Android 4.0 ICS



The has started receiving the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) update.

The update which is being offered OTA (Over-the-Air) is 107.9MB in size and is estimated to take 25 to 30 minutes to complete.

If for some reason you are unable to receive the update OTA you can use the following guide to manually upgrade your Motorola Xoom with Android ICS.

DISCLAIMER Improper use of this guide may result in loss of data or malfunctioning of your device. Please proceed at your own risk.

NOTE Makes sure you are on Android build HLK75H before you continue.

NOTE You will require a USB host cable and a USB Drive. This guide should also work through a standard SD card, but has not been tested
  1. Download Android 4.0 ICS build IMM76L.
  2. Copy the file into the root of your USB drive or SD card.
  3. Turn off the device.
  4. When you switch your device back on, hold Volume Down until you see ‘Android Recovery’.
  5. Press Volume Up to enter recovery mode.
  6. When you see the Green Android logo press Power + Volume Up.
  7. Connect your USD drive to the USB host cable and then onto your device.
  8. Scroll down to ‘apply update from USB drive’ and select it with the Power button.
  9. Scroll and select the .zip update file and select it using the Power button.
  10. Wait for the update to finish.
