Android 4.1 Jelly Bean appears for certain android devices



Google announced Android 4.1 Jelly Bean during the first day keynote of the Google I/O. The new version brings several performance and feature improvements to Ice Cream Sandwich making it a must have update for many users.

While the update is scheduled to start to role out in July for Nexus devices, we are not sure on other manufacturer’s plans to offer Jelly Bean.



Meanwhile Google has already released the SDK for their latest version of Android, and certain ports for Jelly Bean have started appearing online.


Google Galaxy Nexus – There was no doubt that the Galaxy Nexus would be the first in line for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. This is for the GSM variant of the device and can be flashed using fastboot (no root required). Download Jelly Bean OTA for Galaxy Nexus Now

Acer Iconia A500 – This is a port of Android Jelly Bean based on the released SDK. Please note that everying but sound and Wi-Fi are working, and the developer promises fixes are on their way. Download Jelly Bean port for Iconia A500 Now (at your own risk).
