Windows Logo redesigned for Windows 8

It looks like Microsoft is getting ready to change the Windows logo in the upcoming version of Windows. The new logo looks to represent the Metro tile based UI which first debuted on Windows Phone 7 and will now make it's presessence felt across the entire Windows ecosystem with the release of Windows 8.

Microsoft has still to make the official announcement of the new logo which was first reported by Chinese website cnBeta and later confirmed by sources at The Verge and other independent sources.

The new logo is said to be officially announced alongside the the Windows 8 - Consumer Preview which is set to be publicly released on February 29. The new look replaces the multi coloured flag which we have identified Windows with over the years.

The new monochrome logo which represents the Metro based tiles user interface is probably a result of Microsoft's "Windows re-imagined marketing campaign.

I image that the four colours will make their way back into the logo for the final release but we may have to start getting used to a new logo in any case. What do you guys think of the new Windows look ? share your thoughts in the comments section below.
