Nokia Carla update coming by end of 2012 with new devices?

Recent reports expected the Nokia 808 PureView to be the last Symbian smartphone as Nokia shifted it's full focus to the Windows Phone platform. Now it turns out that Nokia may be readying a new line-up of Nokia Carla handsets which are set for a Q3 2012 arrival.

The report also suggest that some of the legacy handsets which include the   Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7, Nokia E6, Nokia E7, Nokia X7, and the Nokia N8  will be receiving Nokia Carla.

Nokia Carla is the third update to the Symbian^3 platform which follows the release of Symbian Anna and Nokia Belle. While the new devices will experience the full experience of Nokia Carla, the report suggests that the legacy devices will only have some parts of the new operating system available to them.

The Carla update is reported to focus on an improved browser, NFC support, Dolby surround and enhanced widgets.

I am glad that Nokia is taking care of everyone who has invested on a Symbian device. With Symbian support expected to go on until 2016, Nokia is strangely giving it's Symbian fan base yet another reason not to jump ship on their sinking mobile platform.
