The Developer Preview which was recently released to the public shows Microsoft's vision for Windows 8. Microsoft now demonstrates Photos, Mail, People, Calendar and Messaging apps which will soon be a part of Windows Live.
While these applications are still not available in the Developer Preview, Microsoft hopes to have them in Beta form and ready for the Beta version of Windows 8 which is next in the road map.

The Live Suite resembles their counterpart on Windows Phone 7 and brings some fun and exciting features to the Windows platform.
The Messaging app allows you to stay in touch with friends on Facebook, Windows Live and even sens SMS messages. Hopefully Microsoft will allows users to add in more chat plugins allowing us to chat with an even wider audience.
The Photo app brings in photos from Facebook, Skydrive and Flickr. You can even browse photos from your other connected devices. Google's services are unfortunately not available.
The Mail app allows you to connect all your mail accounts including exchange email.
The People app takes your contacts to the cloud allowing you to have a universal set of contacts which draws information from your address books including your social networks like Facebook.
