Google introduces Google+ social network

Google introduces Google+, which aims at being a new means of social interaction. The service focuses on how and with whom data is shared with an emphasis on privacy.

Google+ has five features, +Circles, +Sparks, + Hangouts, +Mobile and +Huddle all of which contribute to different social networking aspects.

+Circles - Organize your friends

+Circles allows users to select what information they want to share and with whome. You can achieve this by sorting friends into different circles. You can then assign different content for different circles. This ensures that when you share information with Family you don't share it with a stranger you just met.

+Sparks - Chat with like-minded people about stuff you care about

+Sparks allows users to char about a certain topic with friends who share the similar interests. You can start discussions based on interests or create your own threads to spark up a new discussion.

+ Hangouts - Effortless video conferencing

With +Hangouts you can quickly and easily start multi-person video chats. You can start chatting with people in your +Circle by sending out a notification when you start chatting with one of your friends, allowing all your close 'circle' friends to join in the conversation.

+Mobile - A mobile client for media uploads

Google+ users can also share content such as photos and videos with location tagging using the Google+ mobile app which is now available on the Android Market and soon to be available for iOS devices in the Apple App Store.

+Huddle - Group Messaging on the go

The +Huddle service allows group messaging. A feature which may be set to compete with BlackBerry Messenger and the new iMessage feature which is due with iOS 5.

While this service is still not open to the public you can request an invitation by visiting the official Google+ website and leaving your name and email address. If you are looking for more information on the Google+ service you can also head over to Google's official blog post.
