If you have any issues following the instructions above, you can always consider checking out the following video to help you through the guide.

F.A.Q.
Q1) What do I do if my device doesn't appear in the list on JAF?
JAF is compatible with most devices. However if your device doesn't appear:
  • Head over to C:\program files\odeon\jaf and locate jaf_nok4models.ini
  • Open the file with Notepad, and browse to the end of the file and add the model of your device
  • Save and close the file and run JAF again. Your device should now be available in the list
    -
Q2) What do I do if JAF failed to detect my device?
This could likely be because your device is in PC Suite Mode. Make sure that you have connected your device to your computer with PC Suite or Nokia Suite installed at least once so it can install the nessasary drivers.

Q3) What happens if I change RM?
The RM only differs in the languages of these devices and the firmware for RM-428 is originally American English language, Spanish, Latin, Portuguese Brazil and others, while the RM-356 is British English, Spanish, Spain, Portugal and Portuguese; Therefore changing the RM should only affect the language and not any hardware features like 3G

Q4) How do I change my RM?
You need not do anything before, just flash when you select in the JAF MRI are going to call, for example a Nokia 5800 RM-428 to install this firmware you must select the RM-356 flash when the JAF and that’s all.

Q5) How to I revert back to my original RM?
You can simply re-flashing with the same version you have but it is for your MRI. Its important to check how Nokia supports RMs across regions as you maybe on an RM that doesn't receive software/firmware updates. You can use this change as an opportunity to be the first on the list to receive software updates on your device.
