Today marks the official release date of Android 5.0 Lollipop, with the Nexus 9 running Google's newest mobile OS arriving in the hands of consumers. Now its time for the update to make its way across other devices, starting with Google's Nexus and Google Play edition devices. In the usual customary fashion, Google has posted the source code for its latest OS version to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
Alongside the Lollipop source code, Google has also posted the source for several Nexus devices including the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 7 (2012) and Nexus 10.
The Lollipop update has also been released to manufacturers, allowing them to customize the latest version of the platform for their own device lineup. We've seen early builds of Android 5.0 running on the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC has promised that they will bring Lollipop to their handsets within 90 days of receiving the final code.
Motorola is also reportedly sending out a soak test for its 2014 Moto X, and we are interested to see if the company manages to beat the Nexus lineup with the Android update as they have done in the past.
