Sprint schedules event for April 29 to unveil HD Voice

Sprint has sent out invitations to an event on April 29th. One doesn't have to be a brain surgeon to see from the images on the invitation, that Sprint will be introducing its Sprint HD Voice feature on that date. Already available in Kansas City, the nation's third largest carrier has already said that it would be offering the service shortly in Philadelphia and Baltimore.

The HD Voice feature eliminates background noise on phone calls and also does away with the tinny background noise that affects some phone calls. While quite a few Sprint branded handsets are now compatible with HD Voice, the carrier plans on sending out a software update that will allow more of Sprint's smartphone lineup to be compatible with the feature. The names of those handsets that will be receiving the update are expected to be announced in July, just before the update is sent out OTA. Also in July, Sprint has said that it would flip the switch to turn the HD Voice feature on nationwide.
