[Android app] Facebook 6.0 alpha released with new interface

Back in October, Facebook announced a new Facebook for Android alpha program for users looking to test out some of the most cutting-edge features using the popular social network. Facebook for Android version 6.0.0.0.27 which is currently available for testing now comes with a fairly major overhaul to the app's user interface.

While the changes might not be that dramatic, the new UI is much cleaner and arguably more attractive than prior versions of the app. Unfortunately it is not known if and when this new interface will make its way to the final Facebook for Android release. For one thing, Facebook previously noted that some new alpha features would “come and go” so there is no guarantees that the new UI will make it to the stable release.

If they do decide to move forward with the new look, it will first hit the beta build of the app and then, sometime after that, the UI will come to the stable version of Facebook. So it maybe awhile before this new Facebook interface officially rolls out for public use.

[UPDATE] Facebook has since released version 7.0.0.0.1 of Facebook for Android, which has reverted back to the original interface. It is not known if the new UI will make it back to Facebook or not.
