Lenovo introduces new high end Vibe lineup for international market

Lenovo is known for being one of the top PC manufacturers, but the company has also been making enormous leaps in market share. Lenovo is now the second largest smartphone manufacturer in China and the fourth largest in the world according to a May report by IDC.

Unfortunately Lenovo is still losing money in the smartphone division because of its low profit margins and despite being second to only Samsung, they don't want their brand to be associated with low quality handsets anymore.

Because of this the company has now unveiled a new high-end Vibe brand alongside the first two models under the branding - the Lenovo Vibe Z (K910) and the Lenovo Vibe X (S960). Lenovo claims that the devices will be targeting the "post-80s generation".

The Vibe Z is the successor to the Lenovo K900. It features a 5.5 inch full HD display with a 400 ppi pixel density, a 13 megapixel rear camera, a secondary 5 megapixel front facing camera for video calls and is powered by a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM. The device is said to have a metal-plated sleek and thin design and software keys instead of physical keys. The Vibe Z will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and while the pricing and release dates are still unknown the device is expected to ship ti the US by the end of 2013.

Meanwhile the Vibe X which we have already seen before, comes with a 5 inch full HD touch display, a 13 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel font camera like its sibling, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD and is powered by a significantly cheaper 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6589T quad-core chipset, with 2GB of RAM. The Vibe X features a sleek body that is only 6.9mm thin and weighs 121 grams. In terms of software, the Vibe X runs the same Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The device is priced at RMB 2,899 ($474) and will be released on October 20th for the Chinese market.

Both the Vibe X and the Vibe Z from Lenovo are compelling devices, though they don't offer anything we haven't already seen. If the company prices them accordingly they could find success with both handsets.
