HP announces new Android and Windows tablets

Hewlett Packard has announced their newest lineup for the upcoming holiday season which includes five new consumer tablets which comes in a variety of screen sizes, processors and operating systems. The screen sizes range from 7 inches all the way up to 10 inch tablets and the prices are expected to cater to users with different budgets based on the revealed specifications. The tablets are expected to arrive in November, though HP has still to unveil pricing information for the devices.

The tablets tend to continue off the trend set by the budget friendly HP Slate 7 Android tablet which was introduced earlier this year.

HP Slate 7 Extreme

The HP Slate 7 Extreme edition as referred in its name has a 7 inch touch display which has a 800 by 1280 pixel resolution. The tablet includes a stylus which can be neatly housed in an inbuilt silo and stereo front facing speakers which works well when you consume your media in a landscape position. The stylus is a simple capacitive touch stylus instead of one based on Wacom's digitizing technology, but comes with a extremely fine tip, which should make writing and drawing more accurate. The Slate 7 Extreme is powered by an NVidia Tegra 4 processor.

HP has included a smart palm rejection technology with the HP Slate 7 Extreme which ensures that the tablet only registers the input made by the stylus, and not your idle hand or wrist on the screen, if you happen to rest your wrist on the tablet while writing or drawing with the stylus

HD Slate 7 HD

The HP Slate 7 HD features a 7 inch display and optional 4G connectivity. HP hasn't specified if the 4G is  LTE or HSPA+ speeds, but HP would likely want the device to compete with the Google Nexus 7 like the original HP Slate 7 competed against its predecessor.

HP has stated that users with a 4G slate could get up to 200MB free T-Mobile 4G data per month, so this may be a good tablet for those who occasionally may need to quickly connect to the Internet while away from WiFi.

HP Slate 8 Pro

The HP Slate 8 Pro is an Android tablet which features an 8 inch touch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a high resolution. The 4:3 aspect ratio makes the tablet wider when held in portrait mode than a 16:10 or 16:9 aspect ratio display, but HP claims that most pictures and documents bear the 4:3 format and this is a natural choice for increased productivity. This gives the the HP Slate 8 Pro an experience that’s more akin to reading a book, magazine, or documents as the aspect ratio is similar to that of a printed page. The Slate 8 Pro is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor.

HD Slate 10 HD

The HP Slate 10 HD features a 10 inch touch display, Beat Audio, dual cameras and optional 4G connectivity. HP hasn't specified if the 4G is  LTE or HSPA+ speeds.

HP has stated that users with a 4G slate could get up to 200MB free T-Mobile 4G data per month, so this may be a good tablet for those who occasionally may need to quickly connect to the Internet while away from WiFi.

HP Omni 10

The HP Omni 10 is a Windows tablet with a 10 inch display and an Intel Atom Z3000 series processor. The tablet will ship with Windows 8.1 and include Office 2013 for your productivity needs. HP promises up to 9 hours of tether free battery life with the Omni 10.
