25,000 Nokia Lumia 800 units for developers

According to Nokia CEO Steven Elop plans to give away 25,000 Nokia Lumia 800 units to developers by the end of this year with the hope of inspiring more apps to be built for the Windows Phone platform

The Lumia 800 is available in black, cyan and magenta, and shares the ergonomic polycarbonate design of the Nokia N9. The Lumia 800 features a 3.7 inch display, 8MP camera, 16GB of storage and is powered by a 1.4 GHz processor.

The device was released alongside the Nokia Lumia 710 as the first two Windows Phone devices from Nokia. Nokia has a mountain to climb to regain their dominance in the mobile market against competition from Apple and Google. Their relationship with developers and carriers will play a big part in the companies journey back to where it once was.
