BlackBerry Q10 - Hands On Video

BlackBerry (formally RIM) may have stepped into the modern era with the full touch BlackBerry Z10 but they have not forgotten those who prefer the classic QWERTY keyboard. The BlackBerry Q10 is the first  smartphone to feature a full QWERTY keyboard, giving users a sense of familiarity in their transition to the new platform. The device features a 3.1 inch OLED display with a 720 x 720 pixel resolution, a physical QWERTY keyboard and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM.

The Q10 design in similar to the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and you will quickly notice various design elements that have been ported over to the new handset. You will also notice that the Q10 has been built with premium material including the glass weave cover which is said to be superior to plastic and stainless steel accents around the device.

With the Q10 BlackBerry has chosen to have the keyboard uniformly straight, opposed to the slight curve from previous devices. This is in no way disappointing as the device holds on to the high reputation set by RIM’s QWERTY keyboards over the years. Even through the keys are closely placed together they are easily distinguishable, especially with the tactile response that users have learned to love.

The two devices will give BlackBerry a clear idea of which direction their customers will choose in this post PC era. They have the choice between the BlackBerry Z10 flagship or the QWERTY baring BlackBerry Q10. With both devices priced at $200 on-contract, it will come down to the user’s actual requirement of a physical keyboard.
