Android 4.1 Jelly Bean coming to the Samsung Galaxy S II

The Samsung Korea website has revealed the upcoming availability of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S II. The update will reportedly be made available through the Samsung Kies software and source even lists three carriers which will receive the update but it doesn't mention the schedule in while Samsung plans to release the update.

It’s disappointing that once flagship devices have to spend months waiting for an update while friends with newer models may be enjoying it. Android 4.1 was first announced back in June, and it has taken nearly a year for the update to be prepped for the Galaxy S II

Samsung Korea says Android 4.1 is coming to the Samsung Galaxy S IIThis means Galaxy SII owners wont have to miss out on features like Google Now, Google+, +Talk, Google Play Movies, Google Play Books and the smoothness of Project butter which are already available to the Samsung Galaxy S III. The update is also expected to bring Pop-up Play and improvements to the camera which allow you to pause while recording.

The update will eventually be rolled out to U.S. carriers as well, but the Samsung Galaxy S IV may have started making its rounds by the time that happens.
