Nokia working on indoor navigation


Google recently released Google Maps 6.0 which featured indoor navigation which is available for Android devices. It turns out that Nokia Research have aalso been working on an indoor solution for their Nokia Maps navigation suite.

Nokia has been working with over 30 service providers and chip makers to merge this service with Wi-Fi networks and include Location Extension protocols in BT 4.0. The company plans to have a common standard for indoor triangulation within the next 18 months. You can see the upcoming mapping solution in the demo video which follows:


It looks like we are heading towards a world where we wont have to remember directions anywhere as long as we are carrying our smartphones with us.
