[22 Oct 2013] Apple iPad Event


Apple has scheduled an even for October 22nd at 10.00 AM in San Francisco, where the company is expected to unveil its next generation iPads - the Apple iPad 5 and the Apple iPad mini 2. Given Apple's adherence to tradition,  the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2 are expected to be released on the second Friday after their introduction, or November 1st, meaning that in about 10 days, we'll start seeing people lining up at Apple's retail stores.

[UPDATE] Apple announced a new Apple iPad Air and Apple iPad mini with Retina Display during the event. The company also unveiled updated versions of their MacBook Pro and set a release date for the upcoming Mac Pro.

Apple OS X (10.9) Mavericks was also released as a free update to eligible devices. Apple also announced that iLife apps and iWork apps will be offered for free with new Macs and iOS devices.

The updated versions of iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband, which are a part of Apple's iLife Suite will be available for free to new iOS and Mac users. If you already have a device and want to download the apps it will cost you $14.99 each on your Mac or $4.99 each on your iOS device.

The updated versions of Pages, Keynote and Numbers, which are a part of Apple's iWork Suite will be available for free to new iOS and Mac users. If you already have a device and want to download the apps it will cost you $19.99 each on your Mac or $9.99 each on your iOS device.
