Sony Xperia V will feature ‘Sensor-on-Lens’ for thinner display

Sony has announced a new ‘sensor-on-lens’ technology which they will debut on the Sony Xperia V. This technology removed an additional layer of glass and integrates the sensors onto the top layer. resulting in thinner and lighter devices.

By using this technology users feel like they are touching images directly instead of interacting with glass. It also reduces haze and increases luminance.

Samsung also utilizes a similar method where they integrate the digitizer into the glass. However in Sony’s perspective this will greatly benefit their own lineup of devices.
