The newest Apple iPhone 5 is quickly being adopted by Apple fans around the world. Since the device is still made up of glass a common question is ‘how easy it is to repair the new iPhone’ and it turns out that it is much easier to repair than previous models. In fact the display which is mostly likely to break only takes 5 to 10 minutes compared to the 40 minutes it takes for the iPhone 4S.

Another advantage of the iPhone 5 is its aluminum back, which is less likely to break compared to the glass back plates on the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S.

The teardown reveals that it would have been impossible to build the iPhone 5 with the bigger 30-pin connector, which resulted in Apple using the new Lightning port. The teardown also reveals the Apple A6 processor and the Qualcomm MDM9615M chip which offers 4G LTE connectivity.
Overall the iPhone 5 scored a respectable 7 out of 10 for repairability.
