The iPhone and iPad may be in the post PC era, but I am sure everyone of us have been faced with a compressed zip file we received on an email. You don't have to worry any more because WinZip is now available for iOS and will allow you extract those files.

The app allows you to open zipped email attachments, such as documents and images directly on your iPhone or iPad. You can even open attachments from your web based email.
Unfortunately you cant make your own archives at the moment, but since this app costs nothing it doesn't really matter much.
