[Guide] How to root the Google Nexus S

It's only been a few hours since Google publicly launched their Google Nexus S and it seems that the device has already been rooted by some hackers who managed to unlock the bootloader not too long ago.

For the unlocking guide for the Nexus S go here

Below is a screenshot by well know Android developer clockworkmod, showing the Nexus S running ClockworkMod recovery.

Here is the full how to guide, as posted by XDA-Developers forum:
  1. Reboot into your bootloader/fastboot mode. (Volume + Power Up, or adb reboot bootloader) fastboot oem unlock
    -
  2. Install this recovery: http://koush.tandtgaming.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-herring.img
    -
  3. Fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-herring.img
